Programme summary
Description | In the course of their studies at the Department of Teacher – Educator of John Wesley Theological College, students learn about the most important issues of Christian faith and tradition, the methodology, concepts and disciplines of theology, religious theory and religious education. They will also acquire the religious education and pedagogical knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their specific ministry as teachers, and become oriented in the world of the general humanities. The training is provided in close collaboration with the teaching and research work of the College’s Theology (q.v.) and Pedagogy (q.v.) departments, which is informed by the Anglican-Methodist tradition of integrating the theoretical knowledge acquired into the personal, emphasising social and charitable values and encouraging a confessionally open, dialogue-oriented approach, respectful of other denominations, faiths and beliefs. The aim of the training is to enable students who have completed the Master’s programme to be highly qualified to work as teachers of the faith or as teachers in the educational institutions of the supporting church, the Hungarian Evangelical Brotherhood, and at the same time to be able to use their knowledge in other churches or institutions and in other humanities fields. With the MA degree, the student acquires the right to apply to doctoral schools within the WJLF or other higher education institutions. |
